EALA in Arusha: it gives me great pleasure to inform you that EALA has passed a motion to make Kiswahili an official language of the East African Community.

This motion was undertaken thru the collaboration of 3 EALA MPs: Hon. Aboubakar Zein from Kenya, Hon. Shy-Rose Bhanji and Hon. Abdullah Mwinyi from Tanzania. It has been my long outstanding desire, dream and ambition to promote Kiswahili as one of the official languages of the EAC. For its polularity among East Africans and extensive impact in various fields of daily life, Kiswahili is core and integral to the EAC integration and a big asset to make it people centred and market driven integration. FB_IMG_1472401262385I feel more than happy to have been part of this important Team to canvas and lobby for the promotion of this historical motion. Special thanks go to the Speaker of Eala Rt Hon. Dan Kidega for his his approval and the leadership on this noble agenda which we owe to the people….This motion won the hearts and minds of Eala members overwhelmgly. We owe them a lot of gratitude and appreciation.

It is our strong conviction that the Heads of State of EAC will endorse this motion to enable the amendment of the EAC Treaty which has only English as the official language. #EAC #OnePeopleOneDestiny #UmojaWetuNiNguzoYetu
